I can confirm I’m having a similar problem, but perhaps more frequently. I’m using the EPG in the Central Florida/Orlando area with a WIN-TV Quad HD, which I’ve been using for several years.
Local channel 9.1 and 35.1 (fox) very often play no audio, for about the past month. Changing the channel and then changing it back will often bring back the audio. Recorded shows on these channels almost never picks up an audio stream (info on my players display “none” for audio track). Jeopardy is the show we see this happen on most frequently.
The player doesn’t matter – I have Roku, iOS, Android and other players. I update the PMS version every time one is available. I did not record the server version number when this started. I’m currently running 1.25.4.5468.
This problem persists, and is a serious issue. I’ve been paying for DVR capabilities for several years, and I will discontinue this service if I can’t any clear path to a resolution. Perhaps there is a way to report a bug? Too hard to tell.
Channel 7 (ABC) Denver randomly has audio with 90+ signal strength from tuner. All other channels have audio in my testing.
I have rescanned multiple times, as test with setup using WinTV Tuner X2 Both cards tested independently same results.
Audio in playback settings as “None” using web, smarttv app, or windows app. If I stop and start the channel up to 5 times or more I can get audio eventually. This behavior is seen when watching live TV, and when DVR use recording live TV.
Can provide logs, but I am at a loss. Suspect that when live tv session is started the ffmpeg transcode process is attempting to selected preferred audio channel and if not successful just drops all options and proceeds with nothing.
Please advise.
Exact same problem as @drh444, ABC 7 in Denver often has no audio stream, and sometimes only Spanish. Audio stream is listed as ‘none’. Restarting computer or Plex Media Server sometimes restores audio, but it’s just as likely to disappear again. This has been going on for months now. Please help!
Same issue here. Used to use Plex to record OTA broadcasts via a Hauppauge tuner card, but for months now the audio is frequently in the wrong language or missing altogether.
I know the original OTA program stream includes an English and Spanish audio stream - but somehow Plex discards one or both during it’s transcode and/or record process.
Please just record the original program stream with all the audio tracks. I’m tired of sitting down to watch a show I recorded only to find it has no audio stream or it has one, but it’s in the wrong language.
Cancelling my service if this isn’t addressed in the next month.
