Server Version# Latest:
Player Version#:1.106.0.276-fe8d1d20
I use the same PC for server and player.
Everything was working perfectly before I replaced my PC with newer hardware.
I installed everything as normal bringing over all my Plex settings and library files from the original system folders.
Everything came up perfectly on the new system.
My Win11 uses an Nvidia 1070 GPU which was working with PMP in my previous setup.
I connect the 1070 via HDMI to a Denon A/V receiver, then from the receiver monitor out to my Samsung TV eARC HDMI port.
Again, all these settings and connections are the same as before when everything worked.
I get Plex Player audio only when my Denon A/V unit is on and handling audio.
When I turn off the Denon unit which passes the audio through when powered off, I lose audio with PMP. When the Denon is powered off PMP senses something and audio stops.
The reason I know everything is connected and configured properly is that I get audio from Plex Web, Netflix player for Windows, Amazon Prime video for Windows players, and every other application or streaming service.
All of them work with the Denon powered on or off with passthrough and/or eARC.
It is only Plex Media Player that will not work without the Denon powered up. I’ve tried all player settings in the player. The 2 choices in Audio Device are the Denon/Nvidia source and AutoSelect Device options. Doesn’t work with either even selecting HDMI and passthrough options.
The only factor I can think of is that the Gigabyte mother board has built in realteck chipset and drivers for audio, but it doesn’t show up on the list of devices in Plex config. I use the Nvidia audio driver from my 1070 video card for audio. Not sure if there is an issue with these 2 audio chips/drivers, but again, all other apps work.
Sorry for the long message but wanted to get all the facts down.
Any ideas please??
Thank you.
Found solution.
Seems what I read is that W11 does not include Dolby audio codec support. Went to this website:
Download Dolby AC-3/AC-4 Installer - MajorGeeks and downloaded Codecs and installed. Worked immediately.
