No Channel 4 HD in Plex Freesat Scan

Windows Media Center finds and can record Channel 4 HD but Plex does not. It only finds Channel 4 in SD. I know that Channel 4 have supposedly ‘pulled’ their HD channel on Freesat but it is still there and transmitting. At the moment I have to use Windows Media Center to record that channel but want to use Plex as I do to record all the other main channels. Is there any way I can manually tune Plex?

I don’t have many recordings from Channel 4 but all the ones I have are just in SD; I didn’t question that as Channel 4 HD is no longer available on Freesat. Could it be that Windows Media Server does some upscaling to HD even though the feed is SD?

Just did a test viewing Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD using Elgato EyeTV and indeed Channel 4 HD is broadcast in HD:

The same programme on the “HD” channel only comes up in SD in Plex:

I’m using an Elgato EyeTV Netstream 4Sat tuner which delivers SAT>IP content.
EyeTV is an app running on my iMac that allows me to view the content delivered by the tuner.
Similarly, Plex is another client that allows me to view or record the content delivered by the tuner.
So both clients receive the programme from the same tuner and yet only one shows the HD content in HD.

Thanks. I believe that they have removed the placeholder name so tuners won’t label it as Channel 4 HD. In WMC you have to manually tune it but I think Plex finds it but only gives it a number like 55892 etc. There are many of these numbered channels and it is going to be a job and a half to sift through each one. Channel 4 HD is on 11126 V 22000.

Yeah - my EyeTV client tells me C4 HD is using the same settings as you:

Thnaks. I really think the only way to solve this is for Plex to allow you to manually tune channels, or at least be able to see the frequencies of the tuned channels.

I have Channel 4 HD tuned on my enigma2 box and it works perfect in HD. I have to use the SD Channel 4 dropdown for the EPG but the feed is in HD.

How are you bringing your satellite signal into Plex?

I have a dish connected to a satellite card on a PC running Windows with Plex installed. Like a HTPC.

I have a Grundig SAT>IP but Plex is not able to issue the Diseqc commands to switch between satellites (19.2 and 28.2) so I have tvheadend connected to the SAT>IP and I then use tvhproxy for Plex to connect to the tvheadend. In Plex I use the Freesat DVR and it’s EPG. I do not use the German channels (19.2) via Plex.

All this is running on 1 virtual machine.
