I can play HEVC on your the older windows player but you suggested I pay for the new windows app and I did. it plays H264 fine. but with H265 Hevc sound but no vision…
Help please!! I can see no settings my server does not trancode the files its the same computer.
I have intel I5 8 gigs of ram Nvidia graphics card late drivers. I can play the same file pack fine in VLC player. and your free plex windows player…
The app doesn’t say versions etc. but all just been updated 15/3/2020
I don’t know which app store you visited, but there should be no Plex app available in the MS app store anymore.
It appears you installed the old Winodws UWP app.
Remove it, it won’t work with HEVC.
Plex took an update as it does and stated this is the last version of the player and all from now on will TV mode only I took the update and pay $7.45 AUS to get the new version as with out it plays for 6o seconds only then nags for a signin to pay. the prompt was on the plex sidebar not an email… it came from plex. not anywhere else!!! It said sign in windows store so are you saying its a fake Plex?
The 60 second limit only applies to Android mobile and Apple iOS devices.
The other app might have advertised a Plex Pass (which is strictly optional and not required at all to run any of the currently available Windows apps).
And it might have recommended to sign the app into your plex.tv account. But that is not coupled with a payment.
I’m on a windows 10 desktop in my loungeroom it played for 1 minute. "The pay for "was on the side bar until did now its gone. I paid for it at the windows store
You must somehow have found the old MS app store app online (or had it pre-installed with the new computer).
It’s no longer supported and it won’t play HEVC.
I could not find plex when I tried from scratch to search on the microsoft store but plex has always been confusing in its versions and players but as it was onthe side bar.
ok … Is there only one player for windows 10?
As the the computer in discussion is also the server are they treated seperatly do they both update at the same time. Lastly how do get to the latest version? sorry for being so blunt… I appreciate your time… its such weird times
Yes, but that was quite a while ago. You must somehow installed it back then, but never activated it.
No, there are 2 (without counting the web app). I mentioned them above already, and how to get them.
They are separate prohjects, so they don’t have the same update cycle.
The latest version is always available here on plex.tv for download, but both players have also automatic update capability built in.
I now have both versions running under trial.
You have clarified for me the 2 projects.
How a version from years before appeared I don’t know.
I now also understand why Plex is splitting the versions.
Thankyou for staying with me… I thank you for your effort.
