I have not used Plex to actually watch content from PC for sometime, but I’ve recently upgraded my system and I am finding I want to use it to view content a lot more.
In order to watch any hevc/x265 content I need to use the Windows App (not from MS Store) as no browsers support this codec.
My problem is that the app struggles to even load my library content to display what I have, let alone be able to play it. When content does eventually appear, it proceeds to tell me it is trying to play, but nothing ever happens. It makes no difference if it is hevc content or not.
My workaround was to use the Plex HTPC app which had the exact same issue, but I was able to enter my server IP and Port into the manual server field, and it has worked like a charm. I cannot for the life of me see any way to do this through the Windows App downloaded directly from the Plex website. I would really like to be able to use the normal Plex App and not rely on the HTPC app.
