No Internet - No Plex EVEN ON THE SAME MACHINE

Let me start out by saying that Plex is an awesome piece of software. with a caveat. You have to have an Internet connection to watch your movies, even on the server itself. through a web browser.

I would hope that it is an oversight by the programmers, that they wouldn’t deliberately disable their software lacking a stable Internet connection. But based on similar topics, I am not wrong.

Anyone else using this software with an unstable Internet connection?

Have you visited that link? What on it applies to my complaint. That is, watching movies stored locally on the plex server through a web browser on the plex server?

Without an Internet connection, on the server launch a web browser. Visit localhost:32400/web. Oops. Something went wrong. If this continues to happen, visit the forums.

Apparently, since it doesn’t address my issue of No Internet, No Plex.
From the webpage: "Certain Plex Apps

In some cases, certain apps may require an internet connection to use. Some, like game consoles, rely on the corresponding game service to be available. Others have components of the app itself that have to be loaded dynamically from an internet location. Affected apps:

Alexa Voice Control
Android TV*
Apple TV*
Chromecast
Fire TV*
Most “Smart TV” apps
PlayStation
Plex Media Player*
Sonos
TiVo
Xbox One

*Both the app and server must be signed in; cached connections can be used when internet is temporarily unavailable"

Watching a movie through a browser locally on the server is not on the list of functions requiring Internet.

The plex media player is a .NET windows based program that doesn’t run under Linux. Even if it did, it would require Internet to work*. Hence, watching a movie through the browser.

No. I don’t use fast user switching.

I want to watch a movie in a browser running on the server that hosts the movie collections.

Notice the no internet icon down in the lower right, movie is playing… Not entirely sure if this is what you’re talking about… But I was also able to close the window and open a new plex tab and watch content as well…
