Not sure what I’m dong wrong here. I get everything moved over as stated above, and now my libraries are gone. I do see in the scheduled tasks screen that Plex has updated with my new drive letter and path for backups.
I named my drive Y:\Plex Metadata and also have my transcode :\Temp file going to a different folder on that same drive.
Do I just need to re-point plex to my library?
You probably did not quit/exit/end Plex server prior to starting the copy process.
Try restoring one of the backup database files. https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/
Y: must not be a network file share
The plex service and program were ended before copying the files over. I just tried restoring a backup and nothing has changed.
What type of drive is Y: ?
2.5" SSD Mounted internally, non Network shared.

Please grab the latest Plex Media Server.log from the /Logs subfolder
Do also take another look into the registry. Is there perhaps a [space] character after the last backslash?
Did a new [sub]folder appear somewhere on drive Y: perhaps?

Attached is the latest log and screen captures of the REGEDIT fields and the backup file location in the ‘Scheduled Tasks’ Screen. I did not modify this field to the Y:\ drive when I updated.
Looking at the Registry, I did not add a backslash to the Y:\Plex Metadata. It has now been corrected with no change in library status.
Plex Media Server.log (165.9 KB)
Another question: this log indicates that the plex data folder is still located on drive C:
Is it possible, the the server is running under a different Windows user account, than the one you used to edit the registry?
It says the user account name is ‘veter’. Is this the same Windows user account which you used to edit the registry?
The process explorer can tell you which user account is used by the process Plex Media Server.exe
(CTRL+Shift+Esc, then go to ‘Details’ tab)
There is only one use account on this PC.
Did you set up Plex server to run as a Windows system service?
Yes, plex automatically starts when the system boots. I just undid the entire change, verified that my libraries showed back up. Then completed the process again, and still have the issue. I’ve checked that Plex is running as administrator, and that new Y:\ drive has veter and administrator privileges for full access. The only other thing that was of notice, was when the folder was updating for the permissions, I got an error saying that “System Volume Information” couldn’t be updated. So I went into Device Manager and verified that it was NTFS.
That’s exactly the issue. Don’t run Plex as Administrator.
This is not only bad practice, it also causes Plex to use a different part of the registry.
The ‘current_user’ branch in the registry doesn’t point to the right place when you are not logged in as the administrator.
As a workaround, try running regedit as administrator as well.
But as I said, running Plex as administrator is a bad thing.
You can define the user account which shall be used for a system service.
Simply use ‘veter’.
So it should look like this, correct? Just verified that REGEDIT also shows Veter. Plex is still not showing my library.
At this point, is there any harm in wiping the file folders out that I copied from my C:\ drive and reloading my library manually? Would it go to my Y:\ Drive and start normal operation from there?
Correct indeed.
Which gives me another idea. You did start Plex “As administrator” before, right?
When you do that, some files in the Plex data folder can become “owned” by the administrator user and are either not accessible at all, or not changeable by the normal user account.
If you can restore each file, folder and subfolder back to the ownership of ‘veter’, it might start working. (Giving full access permissions as well)
Completely emptying out the new Plex data folder might also work, but of course you will lose even the playback history.
If you have the time, you could empty it out and then copy the data a second time from the C: drive location.
I just deleted and copied the same file folders over from the C drive. No change.
Then I’m unfortunately out of ideas. There are no libraries to be found under the MORE item in the left side bar?
Not the ones that are mine.

Then I’m afraid the only option left is to close plex server and empty out this folder. That way, all data are lost and need to be re-created.
So am I deleting the folders and all data within? Or just deleting the information on of a specific folder?
