Please any help,
Have moved to truenas scale, both servers running on truenas scale ElectricEel-24.10.1
About 2 days ago, servers not accessed locally, media and server on same machine. Tried everything reset router changed DNS settings ensured DNS rebind disabled, RE-installed server software. Servers only nearby cannot get them secured to access locally. Remote access shows accessible, but only for a couple of seconds.
Installed plex server on a windows machine, and that works perfectly. all devices on the same network. please any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much, I can access the server using that address, however it shows the server as nearby only, my movies are streamed via the internet not directly from the server, so my BLU ray rips don’t look too great.
Thanks again, I tried to change network settings in the app running on freenas scale, but the server runs on the 172.16.0.0 default, and my network is 172.23.0.0, just can’t get the Plex server to install and use 172.23.0.0 IP range.
Look at the docker network pass thru settings. Because they are different ranges you either need to get them on the same range, or whitelist the subnet in plex.
Thanks again, tried everything to get them on the same IP range, I have uninstalled and changed network settings to only my local IP range, every time I reinstall it goes back to 172.16.0.0.
Have been running the server on a Windows machine in the meantime and it works great. Might just keep it like that, seems so much easier. Thanks again for the assist.
I know Ill get flack for this from some people, but Ive never been a fan of adding an emulation layer (docker or VM) into a server setup, if the host can do it natively. I find all it does is makes it harder to debug/troubleshoot. Remember KISS
