No menu strip when you pause the movie

I reinstalled plex HTPC (mac) and now when I pause a movie no popup banner (with pause, play etc) on it doesn’t appear. Thoughts?

This happened once before and I had to reinstall the os and start again. Hopefully I want have to do that again.

Sorry I said “appears” when I meant the “banner doesn’t appear”.
