(1) there’s no restriction to the new release; at worst it’ll be in the usual staged release cycle with the Google Play store that’s used to distribute server updates for the Shield
(2) please read the sticky announcement before jumping to conclusions: this issue affected devices exposed inside a DMZ or even to the internet… this is mostly applicable for devices hosted on an actual server or through an unprotected VPN (very brief summary… see the sticky announcement for the full story)
