No music found

Server Version#: 1.32.2.71
Player Version#: 1.69.1.3755-e00242c8
Trying to try out PlexAmp and when I opened it and logged on it said there were no music libraries, so I created on on my plex server, and added the folder that has all my music on it but it reports nothing found (though after creating it, plex am did find the music library)
I’m wondering if it’s because the music is on a windows server which requires authentication?
If that is the issue, is there any way to give plex server the credentials?
Will it work if I connect and authenticate on the PC that the plex server is installed on?
Any ideas or tips are much appreciated!

This has nothing to do with Plexamp.

If your media files are stored on a different machine than where your Plex server is running, I advise you to do it this way:

  1. create a user account on the file server (i.e. where the media files are stored) which uses the exact same user name and password that you also use to log on to your Plex server machine (I am talking Windows user accounts here, not Plex.tv accounts!)
  2. There is no need to ever log in with these user credentials on the file server!
But you must make sure that this new user
  • has the right access permissions to the folder(s) where the media are stored
  • has permissions to access the files remotely via the file share (the file shares have separate access permission settings)
  1. After logging out on the Plex server machine (or rebooting it) and logging back in, you should get access to the files of the file server instantly.
    No separate authentication necessary.

Keep in mind that you can always access the file server via its UNC path.
i.e.
\\machine\share\folder

In order to get music running, you should organize your music in a folder hierarchy like this: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200265296-adding-music-media-from-folders/
A bunch of unsorted mp3s in a large folder will most likely give you grief.

Thanks.
In the meantime, I decided to try mapping a drive and telling it to connect with other credentials, entered an account that does have access to the folder, and it worked fine.
So definitely an authentication issue, and looks like either fix will make it work.
Thanks!

It usually does work.
But sometimes after rebooting the machine it might suddenly forget that it has the correct credentials stored and thus you migth lose access to the media files without warning.
