I cannot browse any of my videos “by folder” in the Plex client on the playstation 3 or playstation 4. This makes it almost completely useless to me, as I do all my organizing by folder.
It only shows me the videos by date or by year. Which is kind of useless as those are the dates of the timestamps on the files and have nothing to do with the content of the videos themselves. I just bought a lifetime plex pass so that I could run the plex app on PS3 and PS4, and right now it’s not being particularly useful in that regard.
More specifically: I can browse videos “by folder” on my phone and on the web. I cannot browse by folder on the Plex app for the PS3 or the Plex app for the PS4.
Yes, it’s in the web client like the previous poster mentioned. It’s odd that it’s not in the Playstation Plex app, especially since people moving to Plex from UMS or other DLNA servers already have their media set up that way. I don’t know why that feature is missing.
I’m using Plex’s scraping for the vast majority of my videos, but there’s still things that I can’t add to the main UI for whatever reason (mainly extras for TV shows), and it’s a large annoyance to browse them without a view by folder option. The way it is now I have to either use the browser client or the Playstation’s DLNA client to view my MST3K or Top Gear extras.
I’m completely with all the other posts on getting browse by folder on the PS4 app. Just need to know an ETA please? As using my Android phone app and casting to the ChromeCast on my Samsung Smart TV loses any DD or DTS of the media I’m casting.
I am not sure it was not added to the Playstation app only every other platform I know and tfabris and everyone else on this thread knows that is not true we can send screenshots if you don’t believe us. there is not a simple filter or sorting icon unlike all other clients we should all be able to see sort by: recently released, recently added, recently viewed, on deck, by folder, all
By Folder is not a filter type, it is a view type. It’s listed with the Poster, List, By Folder. I just found out there is a bug so By Folder doesn’t work right. A fix should be in a future update.
