No Playlist or Collection Option?

Hi, I just joined Flex on my computer at home mostly because I subscribe to several streaming services and wanted a better way to organise all the movies together.

I see old tutorials about a playlist option after you click 3 dots on a show or a collections tag… however, I seem to not have access to any of these options and can’t see them on my program. Is this a premium only feature or did this feature get removed?

Thank you

It’s hiding
Click the 3 dots on the show poster or movie poster you want to add
Hover your mouse over “Add to” and it’ll pop up that menu

Thanks JaysPlex7…

I did try that and tried it on a number of different movies and tv shows in different areas of the program.

Unfortunately, when I click the three dots it’ll only suggest “Add to Watchlist” or “Mark as Played.”

Do you have any idea why it is doing this?

Sounds like you are trying to create a playlist from the “Free” movies Plex offers. I don’t think that’s an option that is available. The playlist and collection options only work on movies and TV shows you actually have stored on your computer someplace, and is not intended to organize your streaming services in that way.

I could be wrong, hopefully someone will correct me if there’s a way to do that. :grinning:

Thanks for responding, Leelynds.

I have 4 streaming services that I added to my Plex under “Streaming Services”. I thought it was weird that I “added” these as there was no sign in option, but I was able to click the ones I have (let’s use Netflix as the example).

I will search a movie that I am absolutely sure is on Netflix, Plex will show it’s “available on Netflix” and if I click on it, Plex takes me to another window which is Netflix.com (which I have already logged into via the Netflix site).

It’s all very strange to me.

But anyway, there was no login process on my Plex app. If I try to add this movie with the 3 dot bit on Plex, it’ll only feature “Add to Watchlist”.

I would love to arrange the movies/tv shows from my 4 streaming services in different playlists for different moods etc.

Hi again -

Just wondering if anyone could expound on what Leelynds said, “The playlist and collection options only work on movies and TV shows you actually have stored on your computer someplace, and is not intended to organize your streaming services in that way.”

Would I be able to use the playlist and collection options for my streaming service shows if I was a premium member?

I would just really love to be able to organize all my streaming services and have more than one watchlist (“playlist”/“collection”)

This has nothing to do with being a Plex Pass member or not.
You can add content from Plex’ Discover features or Plex’ own video-on-demand to your universal watchlist (only 1 such watchlist, no option to expand/split/…). However there’s no means to organize items from those features/services in collections or playlists of your own. That’s indeed a feature of a Plex Media Server hosting your own/personal media.

As for your question why/how you can be linking those other services without logging in… Plex doesn’t actually sign-in / show your particular Netflix experience. It uses a service that’s cataloging the media available on different streaming providers and displays where certain media is available in a “one stop shop” experience (though there’s no shopping involved). The selection you made in Plex is solely a preference as for what sources to highlight (instead of plainly showing all sources where a movie is currently available).

Thank you, this makes sense.

All of you have been very helpful.

Thank you again for your patience as I was essentially explaining a feature that doesn’t exist (lol).

Have a good weekend, all.
