No Recommendations

If you have your plex server configured such that there are no “recommendations” for a specific library (shows, movies, etc.) then the “recommended” menu item at the left top of the screen should not exist when you go to that library on a plex client (like a smart TV). In such a situation the “library” should be the default view. But what you actually get is a stupidly worded screen indicating that there is no content in your library (which is obviously incorrect). My family are not as familiar as I am with all of Plex’s idiosyncratic UI quirks and this causes confusion and frustration.

There’s a feature suggestion discussing this. Though, it’s seen very little attention/support (votes).

That’s a bit sad. It seems like the developers don’t care anymore. It is a bit like all the complaints I made about the requirement to have managed deletion of unwanted, redundant recordings (like old news and current affairs) was pretty much ignored simply because the developers didn’t see a use case. The old Windows Media Centre was way better. I miss those days.

I wonder… if there’s only 13 users currently showing their interest in this feature… should Plex prioritize their (limited) development capacity on this instead of fixing other problems or implementing features with much more support?

That’s not to say they don’t implement such suggestions… but I wouldn’t put blame on them for not implementing if barely any users support a suggestion.
