Hi all,
I just installed OSMC on a Rpi 3B+ and Kodi works well.
On a forum it was suggested that I load Plex (of which I knew next to nothing) and I did.
I then opened an account with Plex and logged in both on my laptop and Rpi (Kodi).
I linked the accounts on https://www.plex.tv/link/, It appeared to work, but it did not. I get an error “No Server Found” on Kodi.
I spent several hours reading all sources, buy could not find a fix, so here I am hoping someone can help me :)…
Did you install the Plex Media Server? Unlike Kodi, which is an all in one app, Plex is a server+client(s) system.
You install Plex Media Server which manages the content and you connect to it with Plex client player apps like the Plex Kodi Plugin, Mobile apps, desktop apps, and apps for various devices like Roku, Apple TV, Smart TV’s etc. So you have one server that is connected to by however many client apps you want. You can grant access to your family or friends Plex accounts and they can access your server as well if you want. ( Will need to set up remote access if you want yourself or friends to be able to access away from LAN server is on)
Yes, thank you, that was the problem.
I downloaded and installed the server on my Laptop running Kubuntu 22.04.
I read a tutorial and checked my router, UPnP was disabled, so I enabled it.
Now my client on Kodi can connect to my server on Kubuntu.
However, I have no media in my libraries…
I created 2 libraries: Films and Music, tried to add the folders containing the media (ie ‘/home/spiv/Videos’) with no success.
When I Browse for a folder containing my media, I can only get to ‘/home/spiv’.
I cannot see the other ‘folders’ Documents, Downloads etc.
I suspect they are not actual folders, but more like indexes, but I don;t know how to add them to Plex.
Additionally, I cannot find my 1TB USB HDD full of videos…
I am at a loss, there is only so much that I understand and so much time I want to spend on this…
