No Sound from New PlexAmp

So I grabbed the new PlexAmp .appimage release for my Pop!OS Linux box. The appimage runs and looks to play the files but I have no sound. Systems sounds work fine, youtube videos work fine but for whatever reason PlexAmp is not working and I don’t see a volume adjustment anywhere (though I did try Ctrl + Alt + up/down). Am I missing something?

Thanks,

-Jason

What version of Pop are you running? I run 19.10 here and the AppImage works fine. The volume can only be controlled via the system master volume, as far as I know.

Yeah I’m on 19.10 as well… that’s weird. System volume is up and maxed and as I have PlexAmp running I have a youtube video in Firefox that I hear fine.

Pop!_OS 19.10 here as well. I have the same issues, but only with BT. PlexAmp seems to always play through the system speakers, completely ignoring system defaults.

OK, so after a couple hours, I finally figured this out! :smiley:
So turns out that PlexAmp just grabs whatever device is set as default to ALSA, which for some reason is not pulseaudio. To fix this just set pulseaudio as the defualt device, and you should be good to go!

$ sudo mv /etc/alsa/conf.d/99-pulseaudio-default.conf.example /etc/alsa/conf.d/99-pulseaudio-default.conf

After that just reload alsa:

$ sudo alsa reload

Restart PlexAmp for it to grab the new device, and hopefully all will be good.

Awesome… let me give that a try… and I’ll report back to ya.

Thanks for the help!
