I encode all of my videos as M4Vs via iFlicks on a Mac Mini.
More recently I’ve hit issues where some (only some) videos do not have sound on the Apple TV (4K or HD) but do have sounds when played natively (VLC) or via plex on iPad, iphone or the web viewer on the Mac itself.
Has anyone else seen this please?
Please post the first ~20 lines from the Plex XML info of an affected video.
Then post the same of a video which is playing with sound, so it can be compared.
Please do also tell what kind of speakers you are using and how they are connected to the ATV.
The speakers are part of the TV connected via HDMI. Will pull the XML

This was working a number of weeks ago because I watched Season 2 of The Big Bang Theory up to Episode 22, but Ep 23 didn’t work (No Sound) but Season 3 did. Now going back, the last 5 of the Season 2 Eps don’t work with sound on (but previously did).
So something’s changed and it’s not the files. might be a macOS thing (Server is on macOS), tvOS or Plex.

This makes no sense. The audio format is identical in both files. 
is there any update on this please?
I’ve worked this out. for some reason on certain videos, the audio is defaulting to 5.1 instead of stereo.
If I switch it back to stereo it works.
Any idea why this is defaulting to 5.1? it’s not set to that in the Apple TV settings.
