"No write access to destination" - DVR recordings fail after server update

Server Version#: 1.42.1.10060

I am seeing the following in the Plex Media Server.log file after updating to server version 1.42.1.10060. Using Docker on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. If I revert back to server version 1.41.9.9961 DVR recordings work fine.

Again, there are no issues with folder or file permissions as the only change is the Plex server version. I hope that this can be fixed soon as I’m concerned about the fact that I’m running an outdated version with known issues per Plex.

Plex docker image should not change permissions on mounted volumes if PID and GID is defined

This solved the problem for me. I updated my docker compose file to replace PUID → PLEX_UID and GUID→PLEX_GID and then chown’d my config directory back to match the user and group (with 755 permissions). Now I’m back up and running on the latest docker version (1.42.1.10060). Thanks again for the help!

OMG! You were spot on!

I recreated the containers with -e PLEX_UID=”1000” and -e PLEX_GID=”1000” in the docker run command and bam! It worked.

I’ve been running Plex in Docker containers on this machine since November of 2022 and this is the first time I’ve encountered the permissions issue.
