Instead of destructively removing the commercials as is, potentially removing non-commercial media content, have an alternative option to detect the commercials, but just skip over them, like with the skip intro feature. This way if it’s wrong, the user can still skip ahead, or more importantly, skip back to the desired content.
A request for the same feature exists already, and it has more votes.
