DVR Commercial Skipping without data loss

Optionally save the full recording, with a file that contains timestamps for commercial begin-commercial end (Maybe recording_name.comskip, or a centralized database that’s got some form of redundancies in case the db gets corrupted, or both), and add an option to the player to use this file to try to ‘intelligently’ skip commercials during playback. It would sacrifice space for the assurance that the whole recording is there.

[Feature Request] Add an option to the Commercial detecting to create chapter marks instead

Basically, I just want chapter marks inserted into the file so I can manually skip commercials. Extra option of course. But I don’t feel like reencoding or remuxing my files without commercials. Also if a detection goes too badly wrong, then I can rewind or such. Similar to the way TIVO does it, then you can just hit a button to skip the commercial.

Option to keep original program with commercials before creating a second version with commercials removed

Add an option in Settings - Live TV and DVR - DVR Settings - remove commercials to keep a backup copy with commercials as well as the version with commercials removed. This a simple copy/rename of the recorded file before using comskip to remove commercials. There would also be a need to allow the same option in “record options - show advanced - remove commercials” when setting up a program to record to enable the creation of a backup copy with commercials on an ad-hoc basis.
