Would it be possible to have the recordings checked for commercials so they have the skip button but are left whole and then after you have viewed the video. If the commercial detection is in the right places you could select for the server to remove the commercials during the next scheduled task run. The first person to view the recording could then remove the bother of having to skip for the next viewer.
And/or…
Be able to select the commercial start/stop position from the player as you watch through and then have them removed at a scheduled time.
