First off apologies for most basic question ever (and please believe me I have searched for an answer, I'm just a bit stupid)
I've been given a RPI B+ and it comes with a micro card with NOOBS lite installed (apparently). Do I just install Rasplex on this card then plug into RPI then hook everything up to ethernet & TV & power.
I've looked for basic start up instructions but they all seem to say SSH into this or VNC that, if it is that sort of level of expertise needed then I'll walkaway now but just in case.
The only purpose will be to run as PLEX client to support a couple of NOW TV's running as PLEX clients, PMS is on mac mini.
Many thanks for any help or pointing in right direction.

I wouldn't suggest you do or you will loose everything on that card if you ever decide to use your Pi for something else, get a Class 10 4Gb SD card (very cheap now).
You don't need any Linux knowledge to use Rasplex, however, to really benefit you need to overlock your Pi, see the Sticky at the top of this sub forum.
If you get stuck then come back and let us known what the problem is, we really are a friendly bunch (although sometimes we do get annoyed when people haven't searched the sub forum or don't give any detail for us to work on).
Please have a go, Rasplex is far better than anything you'll get on a Roku (Now TV) box
Thanks for super quick reply, I will never ever use the RPI for anything else, I'm only after a Plex client as I'm fed up with Apple TV3 Plex drop outs.
Is Resplex all you need on the card, i.e. I'm not bothered if I overwrite what is on it, or do I need to install it alongside what is already on the card.

Would also suggest that you check your power supply is more than 1A, preferably 2A, and use ethernet (either direct or via Homeplug (Powerline) adapter) as WiFi can cause stuttering issues with high bitrate content.

You are indeed a friendly and very quick to answer bunch, thanks again.
House is cat cabled so should be okay and using separate power supply rated at 5V2A so again hopefully okay. I'll go ahead and install onto card then, I wasn't sure if I needed to keep NOOBS software for anything or not but obviously not so many thanks for clarifying.

I'm a bit confused by that particular phrase in your original post. In what way do you expect Rpi with RasPlex to 'support' the "NOW TV" units.
The natural thing to do would be to use an RPi with RasPlex to 'replace' each "NOW TV" unit. But since you mention 'a couple' of "NOW TV" units and only one RPi, this doesn't add up. One RPi can only be connected to one TV...
Perhaps it was just an unfortunate choice of words, but I felt it best to ask what you meant. To ensure our advice heads in the right direction...

Hi, definitely my choice of words, the NOW TV units are in bedrooms and running fine, the RPI is to add PLEX to the living room (and replace PlexConnect on ATV 3).
Apologies for any confusion.
I wasn't sure how card in RPI worked but from great help above assume only one operating system per card is possible. I was wrongly assuming I needed to keep NOOBS software on card.

Thanks for help.
Forgot to mention, there is an Apple TV-like skin, Simplex if you prefer to keep the interface the same using Rasplex.
I would suggest using Plex Black Edition, has a wealth of user setting and works well with Rasplex, I use this on all my Pi's
Search the skins forum and also this forum for how-to's on installing different skins.
Arghhhhh I've been scuppered, get to 'write to SD card' but it won't let me write to the card with NOOBS on it, keeps un-installing. Also won't let me erase via disk utility.

First off I'm going to remind you that my first post included the phrase "I'm just a bit stupid"
You were spot on and many thanks for being so polite about it, now have RasPlex showing up on test TV, got a brief glimpse of my PMS folders then it went to the RasPlex set up wizard, I need to find a wired mouse/keyboard now but will do that tomorrow.
Thanks again, I'll post back tomorrow once I have set up complete (and use of laptop etc to do this would be beyond me - as i think I've demonstrated)

If your TV supports CEC (Bravia sync, Viera link, etc) then just use the navigation and enter buttons on the TV remote.

I wish, I'm trying to set up on old TV in study, G/F and friend is watching Gone Girl on living room TV (the new TV) and there is no way I'm disturbing them right now, but will try in around an hour.
Moved to big TV, plugged in and hey presto TV remote worked (Viera Link), bit of fiddling with surround sound and it's all systems go, celebrating with a bit of Flight of the Conchords right now (S01E03).
If I can do this anyone can, I'm not sure people realise how easy it is to get PLEX up and running, some of the on-line stuff makes it sound very tech and I'm sure the more adventurous stuff is but for a cheap and brilliant PLEX client RasPlex with a RPI is a game changer.
Huge thanks to the two of you for helping out this evening, hope you're both having an equally great day/evening/night.
