I’ve configured Plex to download subtitles and I’ve refreshed the database numerous times. A number of movies have downloaded the subtitles, but not all. If I refresh the metadata for a specific movie, it still won’t download the subtitles. It doesn’t seem to matter the file type … mp4, avi, mkv. I’m running Plex on a NAS. I’ve searched Plex support and other online sources, but no luck. Anyone have any ideas on how to proceed from here?

Not all subtitles will download immediately, some may not download until maintenance is performed while others may take 30 minutes or more before they download, depending on net traffic etc.
I’ve been trying to get these remaining movies updated over several days.
Check the OpenSubtitles.log for reasons as to why the subtitle/s is/are not downloaded.
I’ll check this next.
Also, try installing the SubZero channel in Plex. That may help download the subtitles you are looking for.

You should also be aware that playing subtitles on some clients will require transcoding. Since you have Plex running on a NAS it is possible that your videos will not play with subtitles turned on.
I run Plex on a Synology box and it handles the subtitles well.
