Hey everyone,

I’m using MacOS and the media server is running on the same device as the player.

Before I tried claiming my server everything worked out fine. I added media from my network drive that is mounted on my Mac, all my tv shows were neatly organized with metadata and then I wanted to start watching on my phone so I tried to claim my server.

But after pressing “claim this server” I was immediately locked out of settings. I tried everything written here https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/ but it didn’t help.

Reinstalling Plex and the Media Server, didn’t help. Deleting my Plex account and setting up a new one didn’t work. Nothing seems to work. I keep reading about doing something with the code I get at Claim | Plex but I don’t know where to insert it.

Can anyone please help? I’m getting kind of desperate :frowning:

Yes we can help. You’ve done a lot of strong things to fix it by the looks of the Article. That’s okay. Your server is still there., and we’ll get it back.

it’s very important to know a couple of things:
To get me your MacOS and PMS versions, run these two commands in a Terminal

defaults read loginwindow SystemVersionStampAsString
defaults read "/Applications/Plex Media Server.app/Contents/Info.plist" CFBundleVersion

You might only need to Sign Out and Reclaim.
You may also need to downgrade.
The decision is based on your versions.

I wrote up How To Sign-out PMS on a Mac, Downgrade and Reclaim if you want to read ahead.

The Howto shows the exact steps for using the claim-xxx code when you get to that step.

So you can see where the claim code goes, here’s an example:

  • You go to Plex | claim and you’re given the token claim-12scoobydoo34dogdoor
  • You COPY IT and
  • In a terminal on your Mac issue the claiming command with that token
curl -X POST 'http://127.0.0.1:32400/myplex/claim?token=claim-12scoobydoo34dogdoor'

Omg, thank you so much! I don’t know why but downloading the older PMS that you provided in the other post solved my issue! I was even able to update it and it still worked. Thank you!!! I was so close to giving up on Plex.
