Has anyone found a solution to this? I’ve reinstalled client and server etc. New, empty 4T WD drive, but won’t record OTA. Both Shield and Plex see the drive.
I’ve just realized last night that this has been going on for me for well over a month.
To add to this, if I look in Plex settings on the Shield TV under Plex Media Server there are supposed to be two icons. One says Plex Media Server and the other is supposed to say what your storage location is.
The icon for storage location is gone. If I wipe storage for Plex and do setup again, the icon reappears, but disappears on restart.
The only solution to this is to make your External Hard Drive Adoptive. I tried every way to fix the problem. Deleted , Moved , cleared all Plex, reinstalled no joy. So set external as an adoptive drive, everything now working fine.
Have you tried changing the “transcoder temporary directory” (found under settings - transcoder - show advanced) to point at your external HD - start the path with “/storage/external_storage_name…”. ?
I found that my nvidia was still trying to store ‘temporary’ records on the internal storage.
Actually, when I set mine up again I just left storage on internal and everything has been fine for me.
