I am in the UK and have the a number of accounts on different FreeView services but only the free basic accounts and have selected these service in my settings.
I know “James May & The Dull Men’s Club” is on the Quest channel and available to stream for free on the Discovery+ app / website.
If I search for it it either says it is not available anywhere or can be found in the Discovery Channel in Amazon.
I DO NOT have the Discovery Channel in Amazon selected as a service but I DO have the Discovery+ service selected.
I found an option to turn off recommendations from all services and that seems to stop it showing up the Discovery Channel in Amazon as somewhere it is available.
Even today, right now, I am Watching 633 Squadron on ITV website on my Chromebook and again Plex says the movie is not available anywhere even though I have ITV selected as a streaming service.
Am I missing something, I would have thought if I select what streaming services I have got then it would search those to find content.
That should do – assuming the show is properly listed at the source used by Plex.
From what I can see, James May and the Dull Men is listed as only available on Amazon Prime’s Discovery+ channel (which is technically not the same as just the plain Discovery+ service).
633 Squadron appears to be available on a few more services – not for ITV, though.
That doesn’t mean the shows aren’t available and you’re wrong (certainly not). It just means there’s a gap in their data.
Not sure how the data is actually maintained. It seems you can report errors but not actively contribute streaming details.
I have been watching James May on the Discovey+ app on my Google TV Streaming box as the FreeView channel sometimes has bad reception and hopefully a screen shot will be attached here of the page showing it is free.
Strangely if search for it on the Plex web site and I get the bit telling me it is not available on any of my services but is available on one other service but again it only mentions the Discovery channel on Amazon not the Discovery+ app but the actual app says it is not available anywhere, that is after I switched off the recommendations from all service option.
I can understand if their indexing system might not read every app so there might be gaps but if it does not then maybe those services should not be listed.
