Not getting HW transcoding with Intel i7-8700 Coffee Lake CPU

Server Version#: 1.21.3.4021
Windows 10 Pro 20H2
Processor: Intel Core i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.19 GHz

I can’t seem to get HW transcoding working on Quicksync with most file types HEVC included
Im a little lost ooo how to narrow down the issue. I have updated display GPU drivers as well

Thoughts?
TIA

not a lot to go on, we need more info.

have you read the whole thread @ Plex, 4k, transcoding, and you ?

yes it’s long, no it may not spell out your exact solution, but should help inform and give you some place to start.

more questions;

  • what does the plex dashboard tell you about the stream? does it have (hw) on either line?
  • what does the logs tell you? look for lines near mde: and tpu:
  • what about the server, is it local? it it a virtual machine or real hardware ?
  • is it all videos or only certain ones ?
  • do you have tone mapping enabled or disabled? tone mapping on windows uses the cpu, so you may be using hw transcoding, but be bogged down by tone mapping.
  • what clients are you using? are they local or remote? not all clients support HD audio. not all clients support all types of subtitles. either/both of which can cause video to be transcoded?

And just to check…
You confirmed it’s enabled in server settings?

apologies, I’ve been ridiculously busy.
The problem was solved however I did a complete wipe of my Win 10 Pro. OS and everything is HW transcoding properly now Thank you all
