Not receiving playback notifications

Player Version#: Version 2025.12.0

I noticed in the last couple weeks that I stopped receiving notifications from Plex when a user begins playback on my server. I have not modified any settings that would’ve affected that (on my server, or on my phone). I thought that maybe I needed to update Plex, so I did, but the issue has persisted. I like having the ability to see when a user is reaching the end of a season, so I can start getting ready to put a new season on. It is also helpful for monitoring how many active users I have.

Has anyone else seen this issue before? Is this possibly a known bug? Any help would be much appreciated.

The current versions of the mobile apps are technically a new app than the legacy Plex app.
You might have to grant the right to send notifications to them again, in the settings of your phone.
Try to Disable, then Re-enable the notifications in the settings menu of the Plex app on your phone. This should trigger a confirmation request from the phone’s OS.

I was not receiving any server notifications from plex.

This essentially worked. I tried toggling notifications on/off in the app, but that didn’t work.

I then tried re-installing the app, which prompted to allow notifications. After I approved, I started receiving playback notifications.
