This may be less relevant to mobile phones, I am using PlexAmp with FiiO r7 desktop android media player, and tablet.
if “now playing” screen is active and expanded to full screen size, it will never allow screen go saver or sleep. Including then PlexAmp finished playing and idle. For days, weeks. it will stay and burn the screen.
I checked Apple music, amazon, spotify, youtube, all respect system setting and work as expected.
Any other player on Android would allow screen to go to screen saver
I could even submit the fix. It’s a question of responding to android:keepScreenOn correctly.
Is there an open source project for plexamp?
And is there a forum for PlexAmp? There’s none in search. I saw that related issues posted under “Labs”. It doesn’t look like PlexAmp is still an experiment that can be scrapped at any time?
I just tested on my Android 15 phone and on Android 10 emulator.
Both worked just fine, with the screen turning off when in the player after 30 seconds (or whatever the system is set to use).
This isn’t true. I think you probably meant to refer to this instead. We don’t need (or want) to set the flag statically at the activity level, so we’re not touching the android:keepScreenOn manifest attribute.
On the other hand, if you’ve changed Settings → Experience → Player → Keep Screen On, we will however request the screen to remain on.
Plexamp is not open source. However, the screen wake feature (on both iOS and Android) is implemented using a popular third-party library (@sayem314/react-native-keep-awake). Feel free to contribute there if you believe there’s a bug:
You posted in the correct place. Plexamp is a Plex Labs project
At no point did “Labs” ever mean “readily discarded”. We’re in it for the long haul, making Plexamp the best music player it can be. See here for more:
