Notification when "Remote Access" is down?

Is there a way to receive a notification by email when the remote access goes down? This would be great, because sometimes I’m not using Plex, but someone in my friends list is trying to access my server and the remote access is down, so they have to contact me to know if there’s something wrong with the service.

PlexPy does this.

You can also use external monitoring sites like https://uptimerobot.com that will send you an email as well

As has been pointed out PlexPy can do this already, and it works pretty well. Sadly, we have requested this type of notification or integrating PlexPy or PlexWatch (not nearly as user friendly or runs as slick as PlexPy, but still a good historical app.) but this integration hasn’t been done yet. Sadly, the original developers of both of these apps are now part of the Plex Team, but their work on these apps hasn’t made it in yet.

With PlexPy you can get either an email, pushed notifications (I use PushBullet) or a slew of other notification methods.
