Can anyone tell me if the number buttons on remotes are usable at the Plex Home login screen?
On the Plex Smart TV App you can use the number buttons to type your pin in, which is much quicker and also means that other users cant see what code you are typing in!
I’ve not got an IR/Bluetooth/RF remote to try this with (yet), it definitely doesnt work over CEC, however that is probably due to the poor CEC implementation on my TV.
@joshdinsdale
It depends on if the remote sends the numbers as keyboard entries. I use this remote which (with a couple of remapped keys) works great. The numbers are sent as keyboard entries so they are usable on the login screen.
However, you don’t want this specific version I think. Last month I got a shipment of this generic China remote with the Explorer key instead of voice command key. The mouse will not stay turned off on that model and the IR learning did not work with 2 out of 3 of my TVs. You want this model of the same remote:
That is if the pictures are correct on this Ebay post. This is the exact remote I use:
Be forewarned that even this model will not learn all IR remotes. My Sharp TV is pretty much incompatible with it. And make sure you hold down the mouse disable/enable key until it turns solid. Your blue Okay button will not work with the airmouse active and the airmouse does not work on versions like Rasplex.

Thanks mate, really helpful explanation. I have ordered one of these now, but from a UK seller so it should arrive within a couple of days. I will post my results.
You may want to look at this comment from an old thread. It contains an old version of the custom keyboard.xml file I use with this remote on Raplex/OpenPHT and Odroid C2 versions to enhance it’s usability.
So my remote turned up today and bloody typicaly it came with an explorer key, even though the listing specifically pictured the voice key AND mentioned voice stuff in the blurb. Anyway I have sent a question to the seller to see if they can send me out the one with the voice key because as far as I am concerned they have sent me the wrong thing.
I will keep you posted!

Might as well try it out while you wait. The airmouse kept turning back on when the remote woke on the IE model I received, forcing me to disable it every time I picked it up.

Unfortunately it was as you said, the airmouse just wont stay turned off, which is a real shame. I did manage to get the vendor to refund me 2/3s the cost of buying it though as he didnt have a voice version to send me as a replacement, so not the end of the world. I just need to confirm with another vendor that they can definitely send me one with the voice button.
On another note, I used the keyboard config you posted in the link above and everything seemed ok except for the back button. The del button on the keyboard seems to work as back , and i tried remapping that function to the back button but couldnt get it to work. I’m pretty new to the button mapping stuff so I’ve probably made a schoolboy mistake somewhere!
The back button on the upper right hand from the “select” button is mouse only. So OpenPHT would need to enable mice for it to work.
So this config remaps the upper left to “back”, the upper center to “home”, the power button to “stop”, and the magnifying glass to “main menu”.
Ah thats slightly disappointing, I think I might have to look at an alternative as Im not sure if this will pass the WAF! The Playstation Bluetooth remote looks like a possibility, however I’d end up not using half the buttons.
Been doing some more hunting and come across this as an option. Its the remote for the Sky Q set top box. Ergonomically its spot on, it has all the media navigation buttons as well as the number pad, but in a really small form factor. Someone has created an lird config for it, so can you see any reason why I couldnt use this with OpenPHT on the ODROID?
Its IR rather than RF/Bluetooth but I can live with that.
So I can see responses from the remote using IRW and with the lIRCD config above. I’ve made an Lircmap.xml to map those through, and modified my remote.xml however im having issues getting these into PHT.

You can’t transfer the files to the Odroid via SSH?
Sorry @benjaminwolf, i wasnt very clear with that. I meant getting the button presses into PHT. The files are all on the ODROID and in the right place, irw sees the remote commands, but they dont seem to make it to PHT from there. I’m guessing my Lircmap.xml or keymaps are wrong.
Anyway i opened another thread and link my configs in as i thought it was a little of from what this thread was originally about.
