After applying new version 4.157.0 … all episode numbers are missing.
I presume Plex is working on fixing it
Are you talking about episode numbers ( like Season 3 episode 5) or number of episodes in a season?
That view is by TV shows not episode. so only shows the number of seasons in a show ( or number of episodes if library set to hide seasons for single season shows)
This is the local web app version 4.147 on my other server that I have not updated yet which displays the same way
this is before server update
this is after server update
Where is the number in the top right corner which indicates the number of episodes that have not been watched? This library is a “series” library.
Regardless … before the update it was ok. After the update … no more numbers.
There has been no windows update or any change whatsoever on the windows server.
SO … there IS A BUG in the later Plex update.
Go to your account details page, and find this setting, check if it’s turned on for Movies & TV Shows. If not, enable it and save.
Bigwheel Plex employee, … you should check why the latest update modifies this option
Tks
you appear to be the only one it was modified for. @veeejay was yours changed?
No, mine was still set as it shows in the screenshot. Didn’t have to change anything.
Is it possible this user had this option turned on before, and the latest patch change the behavior of the setting to apply also to the “watched indicators” of a season’s episode count?
Edit: I just tried it myself. I am on version 1.43.0.10231, and disabling “Watched indicators” for TV Shows makes the episode count vanish.
Well, just to add a little “touch” to this issue. This user (me) is an I.T. professional with 34 years experience (now retired for a few years) and worked for many years in helping the software application programmers in my company with implementing their new apps or updates to to the current apps and help the quality control people testing. That is why I mentioned windows 11 servers and my laptop interface with PLEX. SO … basically, before the latest PLEX update, the “watched indicators” was set to ON and after the update it was turned off by the update. At the same time, NO windows updates occurred and no anti-virus updates occurred that day. There is no blame here. These things happen. So, now that we know about this issue, this post should help others with the same problem. If at the same time the “programmers” who worked on this update could find the reason, that would be great.
Keep up the good work
I’m not clear if you are saying this issue happened to you as well or you manually disabled it?
It is certainly possible it only happens on Windows
Manually. Sorry for confusing you. I thought maybe it was a quirk in newer server versions that watched indicators disabled episode count too.
I’d never turned this setting off, so I didn’t even know it was a thing. I thought perhaps the OP had turned it off years ago (or whenever this setting was implemented) and it only recently changed the behavior to also hide episode count. I just thought it might help to provide my server version and it’s behavior when I disabled the setting.
My server is not Windows so I cannot 100% reproduce the OP’s setup. With my background in QA, I thought I’d brainstorm some alternate theories as to why this happened to someone who claims not to have changed this account-level setting within the last week.
Just for reference, this setting is account based and nothing to do with the server. Does anyone else use your account? This account setting is also available on most if not all our clients. Was this only observed when viewing on our Web client (app.plex.tv)? Do you access your server without Authentication? In the example comparison images, are we looking at the same filter view of items?
There could be separate other ways that this “issue” could have manifested, however a server update would be very far down the list.
