Not sure why it’s working for you but probably has to do with the fact that my soundbar is sonos and requires AC3 in order to work.
It’s not really so much the sound system. It boils down to how your TV passes the audio through to your sound system. Look in your TV Sound Settings and see if you are able to change the output format from PCM to BITSTREAM.
The sonos playbar does not support that setup as there is no HDMI port on it. Mine is shield --> TV, soundbar --> TV via optical connection.
So I guess this is going to be forever broken? having no audio is kinda a big deal
The problem has been resolved for me after applying the most recent hotfix from Nvidia. Note you need to sign up in order to get the update as it’s not generally available yet. Hope this helps.
Didn’t fix it… Audio still busted…
Forgot to mention I had to manually override the advanced audio settings on the shield and change it from automatic to specifically allow DD and DTS.
Ok so it’s been a while here. I will say that changing TV settings from PCM to Bitstream did work. But if that option isn’t available, the most recent update, 8.2.1, fixed the issue as well as long as you manually select which audio codec is supported in shield advance audio settings
