Hi!
I am facing a problem with my files being 4096x2160. Unfortunatley they do not direct play.
The files are on my NAS, which obviously is not powerful enough to do live transcoding for these files.
The files play just fine on iOS, so i wanted to know if there is a way to get the same behaviour on my TV/Shield.
Thanks
I brought this up last year and was told to raise a feature request about it (link below if you want to vote for it).
No idea why the 3840x2160 limitation is on the Shield.
Thanks.
I just gave a thumbs up to your feature request.
This is really annoying.
My LG TV Integrated Plex app however suffers from the same problem.
Apple-TV works with stutters, but if you click use old media player in the preferences it works fine so far.
Unfortunately it seems there won’t be a solution soon.
What’s weird for me is that my Sony Android TV plays it back directly just fine, and that’s what my Shield is connected to.
I suspect an incorrect/incomplete reading of device capabilities by the Plex Media Decision Engine (MDE).
Hmm, that’s good to know.
How can we forward this “simple” problem to the devs?
What i don’t understand is why it works on an iPhone which has less than 4k resolution but not on recent “full” 4k devices.
