I hate to hear when anybody has issues with updates, I’ve had my share, but, not this time. I don’t know why some users had issues, while others didn’t. Just for comparison here is my setup.
I’m in the USA and have a 2017 Nvidia Shield TV 16 GB, just purchased in October. This was my first SE Update. My Plex media is on a Lacie NAS. My Plex metadata was migrated to adopted storage weeks before the upgrade. ( BTW, that was most definitely a struggle, and would not work until I purchased an SSD with USB 3.0, attempts using Reccomended USB 3.0 thumb drives as adopted storage never completed migrating, requiring factory reset etc). I also have a secondary server on a Mac mini for users outside of my home network, with the identical library. I have a Plexpass and an HDHomerun Quatro network tuner providing Live TV/DVR .
My update to SE 7.2 was smooth, as was the update to SE 7.2.1 a few days later. As I have none of the issues others have reported, I have not flashed the 7.2.2 beta fix updates. The initial update took about 9 minutes, and an extra 3 for the remote, and controller updates, the following update took about 17 minutes.
All features of Plex work as expected, and DVR recording transfers actually seem a bit quicker.
I understand the frustration, and hope for quick resolutions for all users with issues.
