i have now reset everything at least 8 times to no avail. setup is 2019 nvidia shield pro/external seagate (though tried a wd which made no difference) with hauppage wintv dualhd. shield factory reset once more otday trying to get this working… but no…nothing.
i get everything setup - plex server running, wintv dvr all setup. plex dvr channels all found and guide also fully working. i pick some programs to record… AND NOTHING ever records.
got an external drive setup as removable storage. libraries all pointing to the external drive. all i ever get is the message"There was not enough free disk space to start the recording" - i have 2tb free.
i have read sooooooo many threads and watched endless videos. i cannot believe how this just simply does not work ever. what on earth is wrong?
That message usually means that the transcoder doesn’t have sufficient free space for its temporary storage of program the being recorded. You can change the location of this temporary buffer by adjusting Settings -> Transcoder -> Transcoder temporary directory:
Try setting it to a location on your external drive. I don’t know the exact algorithm PMS used to determine how much free space is needed.
Full disclosure: I do not use a Shield TV as a server, but the information above is correct for every other PMS platform I have used.
16GB per hour of recording.
philipsw… cheers! That has solved the problem. Your help has been sorely appreciated.
No problem, glad it worked for you.
Hi - what’s the path for the external drive? Not really sure where to go to figure that out.
I plan on buying a seagate 4/5 TB external HDD as removable storage, like you did.
I just cut and pasted the library location nothing more than that. Works
