I have tried to record a couple movies and a 1 hour TV show using My NSTV with a 1.0TB USB SSD mounted as internal (799GB Free), and keep getting the following error - There was not enough free disk space to start the recording.
Yesterday or so, it was working OK. I recorded Ghostbusters 1984 @ 19GB just fine and a couple of test TV shows. I don’t know why the Plex DVR is not picking up on the full 799GB of free space on my Shield.
Any suggestions?
It should only require 4GB of free space. It seems weird that it would stop working.
Do you mean 4GB on the original 16GB or all of the internal memory? The SSD drive is showing as
/sdcard/ASMT if this helps. Like I said it was working ok a day or so ago.
It should look at the free space for where the recording is happening, which–if I understand correctly–can only be the internal storage b/c we don’t have write access to external drives. But I might be getting that wrong.
Tried restarting the Shield this morning. Still getting the same message. The storage as follows :
Internal - 11.00GB Total / 2.83GB Available.
ASMT USB Drive - 0.90TB Total / 802.0GB Available.
Internal - 11.00GB Total / 2.83GB Available.
ASMT USB Drive - 0.90TB Total / 802.0GB Available.
That probably explains it, b/c it requires 4GB free to record.
Internal - 11.00GB Total / 2.83GB Available.
ASMT USB Drive - 0.90TB Total / 802.0GB Available.
The above specifications were working a couple days ago. The library I am recording to is /sdcard/asmt/Movies, etc. Since the asmt drive has 800 GB free space and is mounted as internal, it should work like it did a few days ago. Hopefully your update for the Shield will fix the problem.
Thanks for your help.
I found the problem. I had added 3 apps ABC, FXNow and FoxNow, and today when I removed them, recording started working again. The same storage as above, which means one of those three apps altered something that caused PlexDVR to stop working. Anyhow, thanks for your help.
Ah, interesting! Thanks for posting the “solution”
I am having a similar issue with Plex not recording to my external drive for DVR. It is configured to do so, and I confirmed that in the setting, but it still tries to use internal.
This support article states:
" So, to be able to use the drive for saving optimized versions, DVR recordings, etc., you would need to create a sub-folder in the main NVIDIA_SHIELD folder and then point to that location since it will be writable."
But how do you point the DVR to that location so that it writes to it?? I don’t see any articles saying how to to do that.
