NVidia Shield endless buffering even with directplay local files

Server Version#: 1.41.3.9232 (latest)
Player Version#: 10.24.0.2257 (latest)
Plex pass user.

Hi,

For the last few days, I’ve been unable to play any local files on Plex + NVidia Shield for more than a few seconds (usually 3s) before 20s of buffering kicks in. Then 3s of play again, and then more buffering.

The log error is: “An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host”.

I have been using this setup for 5+ years with no issues. No hardware changes (but many windows 11 updates ofc).

Network was tested at 1Gbps and Netflix/Prime running on same Shield run fine. In case it matters, internet was tested on teh Shield at 800/100.

I tried many files, some very old. All using direct play. All behave the same. Network bandwidth used is barely 12Mbps / 1000.

It does not appear to be related to the file format and no transcoding occurs.

I reverted the media server (running on Windows 11) back to 1.41.1.9057 but it did not help. I am now on beta 1.41.3.9232 (trying a beta also didn’t help).

I disabled HDR tone mapping, dropped the scaling to 720p on the player. Nothing helped.

Any ideas?
