This is the similiar disaster they had on the Rokus a while back after an upgrade. WTF are they thinking. I just want to hit my head against the wall when I see stuff like this. Who in there right mind likes this new layout. I’m all for change but not like this.

I like alot of the changes, my main issues

Auto play will not work at the end of a season to start the new season

You can’t click on an actor/actress anymore to pull up all movies you have with them in it. Used that daily

Hello, just to let everyone know that the ‘play next’ and ‘add to queue’ function for music files is accessed by holding down the select button on the Shield. None of my other devices has changed to that way of doing things so it’s Shield specific.

This player update is the worst one yet. Kodi from 10 years ago is better and kodi did not age well…

What is happening with Plex lately?!

Glad it’s not just me who dislikes the new layout.

Determining which episodes of a show you’ve watched is nigh on impossible now.

Also, what has happened to the option to move onto the next file in the folder, used to use that an awful lot in various folders of random video files., now I have to go back to the main library page and select the next video, so much less simple.

This update can’t happen soon enough. This new layout is awful. I get asked almost every day by my wife and kids to change it back and I have to keep telling them I can’t.

I noticed the app updated today on my Shield but I didn’t see any changes to the things most users are complaining about

any indicators of when a revised app that is what users are looking for will be released? I wouldnt think it would take that long to revise some of the basic settings in the new app to meet what subscribers are looking for.

Any news on this as current display is terrible. It was good before but the single row to scroll through is aweful

It usually takes Plex an absolute minimum of 6 months to fix an issue if they do at all. It’s usually best to either ignore it if you can or use something else and periodically check back every few months to see if they acknowledged or fixed it. They’ll never give you an ETA either unless a fix is incoming very soon.

What’s the best Plex alternative? I’ve grown weary of this routine with them.

Please bring back vertical grid for collections. New layout is terrible and takes forever to scroll large collections.

When is Plex going to update this mess? I had side loses a previous version, but it seems as the server upgrades are released it was taking longer and longer to respond and not working properly. Upgraded to the current version and response is better but UI for collections is still HORRIBLE. I wouldn’t think this would take this long to fix. Very frustrating

I’m not sure what it’s like on the shield, but on my android tv box, I was able to install 8.5 via aptoide. It sucks, but at least the UI is better again for tv shows:

  • easy to spot which episodes you saw
  • vertical scroll
  • see the show summary screen
  • easier mark as seen
  • mark entire season as seen/unseen again (also impossible in the new one it seems).

Hope plex fixes this eventually.
