Hello, question it looks like the plex app on my Nvidia shield updated today to version 8.6.20351. Prior to the update the movie collections i had would show up in rows and i could scroll down through the rows to glance at several titles easily; similar to the way the library appear and is laid out currently. Since the update though collections now show with the movies at the bottom in a single row and i have to scroll to the right instead, requiring a lot of clicking in large collections to get to where i want; almost rendering it useless for browsing. Is there a way to change this setting back, as the new layout is absolutely terrible. If there isnt way to change the setting is there a way to go back to the previous app as i am not happy with the new one.
I have attached screen shots to show what i mean. The layout of the new collections is on top, and the layout of how the library currently shows and how collections use to show is on the bottom.
Feature request: Change collections back to the display they use to use and also add the lettering for on the side the library has to get to titles in the collection quicker.
I couldnât agree more. Hopefully they change this back soon or provide an option to switch to a grid view. I have a couple collections setup for âkids moviesâ and its drastically more difficult to use now. Very disappointed in this change.
i just got the shield not too long ago so hadnât used the previous player but I agree the new update is absolutely horrible. I like the play back quality of the shield but may have to go back to the Apple TV I was using before the shield because the app at least isnât a disaster on the Apple. Hope they fix it soon
Another feature request for collections, when you select an item from collection to view, then go back to the collection, donât have it default to the first item in the collection. Have to go back to the item you had selected. This is exceptionally obnoxious now that grid view is gone. Click the wrong movie by accident 30+ movies into a collection and then go back to the collection and have to scroll from the beginning again to find the one you meant to click on, not fun. New app is really terrible.
Just putting my vote in here for a return to the previous format. Any chance your team could possibly show what the changes are and then see if your users will prefer to not change? This surprise technique is honestly not very proactive with respect to your users and just becomes a reactive headache for everyone. Anyway, it allows me to use my favourite ASCII emoji of the old days:
For the collections, the vertical grid look is better I agree.
However, for tv shows and episodes I like the horizontal scroll view much better. The old NVIDIA sheiks tv show interface where all the episodes were below and very large pictures looked not to good.
My partner thought Iâd messed with both Shield settings and wasnât happy, especially when I couldnât reset the horizontal scrolling for TV programmes which she hates. Then I found it isnât possible to create an on-the-fly music playlist across different albums with the âplay nextâ function which has disappeared, but if you select an album and click âplayâ it plays, then click âgo backâ and click âplayâ on the same album, the âplay nextâ and âmove up or downâ buttons appear. This still doesnât enable the aforementioned playlist creation as you have to start playing an album before you can enable âplay nextâ which then negates the function. Also, select a track on any album and Plex decides to play the next one instead. Pressing I< sometimes only goes back one track. Come on lads sort it out!
MY biggest beef is that when you are going through this agonizingly long horizontal collection and you click in on a movie to see more details, when you back out you get placed WAAAYYYY back in the agonizingly long horizontal collection. What sort of UI would do that and how would that not be seen or resolved before being released as a stable/production update?
AgreedâŠPlex is trying too hard to mess a good thing up. I have Sheild servers on 3 devices on my home network. Since the update only 1 is working. Something to do with allowing unsecure server function. What a shame.
