NVidia Shield Pro Video Delay

I was able to test the file now:

  • 9.6.3.34515 on Shield: Works
  • 9.19.1.525 on Shield: Works
  • 5.57.2 Plex for LG: Works
  • 4.100.1 Plex Web: Works

With “Works” i mean there is no freeze at startup and the audio is in perfect sync. Tested the TrueHD 5.1 audio channel. However, the file i linked before (Downloads Page - Demolandia) does not work on the shield above version 9.6.3.34515. If company policies prevent you from downloading files from random hosts i can understand that and could offer the file using a channel of your choosing. In the company i work for this is a very strict thing, that’s why i’m mentioning it

Anything else i can do?

@ChuckPa Any updates on the matter?

I still cannot replicate any sync/delay issues.

I am using:

  • Shield Pro 2019
    – Shield Experience 9.1.1

  • PMS app version 9.20.1.979 (0b42781)

I have multiple test tiles from multiple sources

I’ve shared a test file which I purchased the full test suite (Spears & Munsil)

I concur with you the Demolandia video has audio sync issues
I’l l look at that

What is confusing is where my files don’t have sync issues and the audio sync markers are clearly shown in the video.

@bakaschwarz - The sample you have shared via the Demolandia website is actually badly muxed together.

When you look at the file via mediainfo, you can see it states that there is 2 video streams and 3 audio steams…

However when you then load it up into MKVToolNix and remux it to MKV, you will see that in fact there are 4 audio streams…

When I play the original M2TS file untouched, I indeed also see delayed audio.

However when I remux it using MKVToolNix, this fixes the audio delay problem and all is well.

Therefore your sample from the website is actually a bad example to use for testing.

But that isn’t really the problem here, is it? The file works to replicate the issue and the file works before the mentioned release. All i see here is that something that worked before is now not working anymore. I have a copy of Bohemian Rhapsody which also has this problem, but i obviously can’t share that file here. And it works on Plex for LG and all media players on PC i tried don’t struggle with this as well. So the Plex App for Shield is the odd one out here…

Thank you!

That may well be, however I thought it best to point out that the original downloaded file could be considered partially corrupt, which was something Chuck stated he was going to look into…

And on the basis that the example download is partially corrupt, you should not use it for testing unless you remux it.

I will look into this. I’m unusually busy today.
(Engineering work)

I remuxed the file. Audio delays gone.

@bakaschwarz - Based on my findings and Chuck also being able to play the sample after he remuxed it, this implies that the problem experienced with the sample downloaded from Demolandia is indeed due to the fact that the file was poorly muxed, and if you were to remux it with a product such as MKVToolNix, you will find that it will play perfectly.

If most of your media works fine but you still have a problem with your copy of Bohemian Rhapsody, then it is more likely that particular video file is also problematic, and you may find that remuxing it may cure your problem with that movie.

Do please give this a try and let us know how it goes.
