Nvidia Shield TV Subtitles don't show on automatic setting

Hello, I have an Nvidia Shield TV as a client with a Synology 1019+ as a server. Both are the latest version. I have been playing titanic, a H.265 version 1080p file with external SRTs. On all devices except my Shield, the subtitles show. But on the Shield, they subtitles don’t appear. I have to set the subtitle burn in to always for it to show - but then it lags.

How can I fix this?
