Offline media (discs) functionality or possible third party plugin?

Does anybody know if there are any options in Plex to add offline video content (i.e. bluray/dvd discs)? For example Kodi allows you to input your disc library so that those titles are visible when you navigate your entire movie library. You are able to add information specifying the disc location etc. Are there any third party plugins that will do this?

None that I am aware of, however, you can create a txt file of the movie title, change the extension of the txt file to .mkv, and then pop it in as a placeholder for the movies in your main library. Then you can manually edit the metadata fields to include any information you want.

The even niftier way would be to make a quick 10 second video that says “Movie Only Available on Disk” and put that in your library for each movie that is on disk.

Edit: Or rip this from Youtube and put it in your library for each movie:

OK great. I had wondered if renaming a text file would work. Thanks for you help and suggestions! Appreciate it.

Jason, one question – how do I edit the metadata? Do I do that through Plex or is it a Windows function?

You do that through Plex. You click the little pencil on the movie poster and it allows you to edit the description and all other things. Just make sure you lock the field so that it doesn’t update and get overwritten after you edit it.

OK Perfect! Thank you so much.
