Is it me, but I seem to remember Plex working offline when I setup my local server many years ago…
Now, that I’m in a position where my primary internet went down and my failover hotspot connection was down. I figure no problem, at least I can watch a show off my local server…

You need an internet connection to authenticate on your local server. WTF! Who was the bone head that came up with that offline solution. OFFLINE… MEANS.. OFFLINE… not oh let me connect for the auth through a third-party to my own server.
FIX THE AUTH PROCESS SO IT ACTUALLY WORKS!
A fully registered server should not require a user to connect to plex.tv to authenticate. Local auth should always be first option and failover to global auth. Especially when the server is configured to support offline mode.
