Server Version#: 1.20.3.3483
Player Version#: 4.45.0
Hi Guys,
I have an intermittent issue I was wondering if someone could assist with, Im not really sure what triggers this behaviour however the server did update last night, every so often I am noticing movies in my collection are losing their matches and are displaying as recently added content again.
I have added screenshots to try and illustrate my point, essentially everything after “The Triplets of Belleville” is content I added to my Plex movie collection months ago. For some reason Plex is losing a record of it and seeing it as new content. This content doesn’t have a match and is all logged as unplayed.
In order to correct this issue I have to restart the Plex Server application running on my Mac Mini and then manually tell Plex to refresh the metadata on each movie, which triggers it to rematch and display the custom artwork I have created.
However it does mean I have painful task of removing unwanted metadata from each of the movies, reapplying collections and marking them as watched.
Ensure the movies are actually matched to begin with. You can check by navigating to the Library view of your library and selecting the Unmatched filter. If any are unmatched, they could potentially lose customizations on subsequent library scans.
Particularly if you use any form of external storage, ensure that “Settings -> Library -> Empty trash automatically after every scan” is disabled. If the media becomes unavailable for some reason (network issue, external drive unmounted, etc…) and a scan is performed, and this setting is enabled, the missing media will be permanently removed from your library. When the media becomes available again and a subsequent scan is performed, it will be added as new.
Thank you for the reply, the “Empty trash automatically after every scan” option was enabled and the media is hosted on my network attached Synology. Your suggestion makes perfect sense now I think about it. I have disabled this feature fingers crossed it resolve my issue.
