Older package versions availability

Can we please have an official link to older versions of the media server available on the main download page.

The download page forces only the latest build download which is broken and can not play / decode HVEC files. This issue is cross platform.

Instead of waiting for a fix, it would help to not have to trawl through various search engines just to be able to get back to something that works. A link to official archive somewhere in the download page would be great.

Thanks

Plex has not kept older versions accessible via the web page.

It’s a policy which isn’t going to change.

For as long as I can remember, we always encourage folks to keep their own backup copies of packages.

If you were running Plex in a linuxserver.io docker you can find images in the tag section that go back several years.

Ah nice to know, thank you, I am however using Mint to run plex server.

In that case you are only left with two solutions:

  1. Do better testing to make sure that your releases thoroughly tested before made public to avoid unnecessary issues. This should be a policy if it isn’t already.
  2. Prioritise hot fixes when testing procedures have failed.

Not keeping older versions accessible / available to your customers is rather a strange policy that is hard to find a solid logical and rational explanation for given that mistakes do happen and ability to roll back should be easily available.

If you install updates via a package manager, why as the end user should I care about keeping local backups. We have moved past that in this industry. The ability to roll back should be available and accessible easily given that the reason why one would want to roll back is most likely due to a broken new build, i.e you guys.

Docker runs fine on Linux Mint.
