Personally I'd love to have resuming from playback rewind 5 seconds in the stream.
We have a house with kids, and often you've got to take breaks to deal with a fight, get someone a snack, someone has an emergency bathroom break, etc. Moreover, pause/play seems to take a few seconds for the audio to start playing even though the video starts up - rewinding a touch would fix that issue.
Bonus points if the rewind distance scales with how long you've been paused for (for forgetful brains. :)).
I guess this depends on the client you are playing on. With the Roku if you press the "Instant Replay" button to resume instead of the play button you get a jump back of a few seconds, I'm not exactly sure how many, and play then starts at that point.
That is about all I need but I rarely use that function as on the Roku the audio and video start right away in sync.

I’m trying come up with a workaround for the delay in sound when resuming video on my Nvidia Shield TV. As many people deal with, when I pause a video the audio receiver doesn’t detect input and switches Stereo sound. Once I resume the video, it takes a several seconds to reinitiate the handshake and detect the surround sound being passed to it. Quite often I end up missing dialogue and have to pick the remote back up and skip back 10 seconds. It’s super annoying lol.
How about a optional setting that when the video is resumed, it just starts playing from 3 seconds earlier then where it was paused? (Maybe even let the user choose the length of time, i.e. 2-5 seconds). Implementing this would give the receiver time to reinitiate the audio connection. Wouldn’t require skipping back a full 10 seconds or extra button presses. Lastly, no one would have to deal with missing dialogue anymore.
