Onedrive files on demand

hello
new user
installed plex server on windows.
all of the files i want to watch are in a Onedrive folder which is downloaded on-demand - meaning you have to start playing the file and wait for the download to finish before playing it. Can Plex handle this type of setup or must i manually download each file before letting Plex play it? thanks!

That’s not going to work with Plex.
There’s a bunch of posts on how to mount some cloud storage to your system for Plex to recognize it as local. Keep in mind there’ll be a lot of traffic – e.g. when Plex tries to run some intro detections or preparing previews; not just when you actually play a file.

ok then manual download required - thanks!

Look at https://rclone.org/.

Search the forum for “rclone” or “rclone onedrive” or similar.

hi - making progress - i have a OneDrive folder that is auto synced to the cloud and Plex server Windows is linked to that folder but is only updating certain items - not all - some MP4 files are being ignored while other work fine - any advice? Should i switch to rclone - what is the difference if Onedrive does a sync/download to a folder on my device? I have tried refresh several times - is there any kind of error log or video file types that are unsupported by Plex server? thanks!

I don’t use rclone, I’ve just seen posts from others on the forum. Search the forum and you’ll see the threads.
