Ongoing problem with Sony TV and where the problem is?

Server Version#: Version 1.18.1.1973
Player Version#:

Hi All - this is a direct question referring to this post I am also doing to explain my issues.

I still don’t know where the problem is - My Sony TV - My PC CPU where my PMS is and what solutions I have.

It seems that getting a Shield as just a client may be my only option at the moment - as long as the Shield is ok to take the video files from my PMS of my current PC?

Any help would be appreciated as I am stuck of what to do next…

Ben

Getting a Shield will improve things in 2 ways:

  1. its ethernet port is not limited to 100 mbps
  2. it can play more audio and video and subtitle formats than the native Plex app for your TV – so the server has less often to transcode

You may want to wait a few more weeks (or mere days?) until the refreshed Shield models have been released: New shield leak - upgraded SOC + new remote + possible dolby vision

did you ever attempt to use a different audio stream?

like either ac3/eac3 dd, or even a stereo audio track ?

if it only has problems with dts ma, then change the audio and see if something else works.

if so, then you were chasing a bandwidth problem for no reason.

if you have not already read @ Plex, 4k, transcoding, and you please read the entire thread

Thanks to both for replies.

@OttoKerner Thanks may wait a little then and see…
@TeknoJunky Thank you - I tried other files and they work fine - limited to only large 4k or audio formats.
I have read the 4k file however has not helped me find my solution - been at it for 2 weeks ish, as my linked thread - changes all wires - checked performance and all seems to run smoothly and just cannot find the problem why.

My only assumptive conclusions so far are either - my CPU is too old (but would that matter if the files are sent direct play to the Sony Plex App or is it my Sony TV who struggles when the files are sent direct play to the Sony App.

Just cannot put my finger on it.

However, if the Shield as a client will help me even if ALL my media is still in my “old” PC where the PMS is installed could be a solution for me -
Or Vero 4k+ where a few are having positive results for half the price.

Thanks again and hoping to get a solution soon.

Time to check which one is best for me with the new Shield TV 2019 & Pro out today…

New Update on this -
I recently received the new Nvidia Shield Pro 2019
Connected it all - very easy set up - HDMi direct to the TV
Ethernet connected to modem
Installed Plex as Plex Client only
Changed Plex pass-through settings and max settings
All video files so far played flawlessly full audio and video quality.
The Shield TV solved my problems!

I will add my set-up here for anyone who has similar problems…
