I replaced movie “The Patriot” with a different version and ever since I have done that, no matter how many times I click “Refresh Metadata”, I never get proper IMDB or RT rating. It always shows grey star and % next to it. I was stuck like this once before, when I added a new movie, but when I deleted “imdb”, “tmdb” cache folders and “imdb.xml”, “tmdb.xml” in /Plug-in Support/Preferences and “imdb”, “tmdb” agent folders in /Plug-in Support/Metadata Combination it fixed the problem, but this time no matter how many times I try, it still doesn’t show either rating. This is the guide that I followed and worked before:
2018-07-10 01:03:21,142 (1dd0) : INFO (logkit:16) - Plex_Movie_FAILED - Error obtaining Plex movie data for 0187393: HTTP Error 404: Not Found
2018-07-10 01:03:21,144 (1dd0) : INFO (logkit:16) - Error obtaining extras for 0187393: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'xpath'
2018-07-10 01:03:21,144 (1dd0) : INFO (logkit:16) - Error obtaining Rotten tomato data for 0187393: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'xpath'
I tried cleaning bundles, emptying trash, deleting and re-adding movie, adding a different movie (which showed IMDB rating immediately) and then adding Patriot again but problem remains.
My guess is that somehow, somewhere, there is still some cache file from 1st version of the movie and when I try to add this one, it for some reasons ignores to look up IMDB or RT rating? But all other metadata on the movie is correct, the only issue is that it does not show up ratings.
Is there anything else I can try? This is the only movie that does not have a proper rating in my entire library and my ocd is kicking in hard, because I want everything to be nice and organized. Why doesn’t Plex just offer us to enter IMDB rating manually since this is the biggest issue with metadata since this programs inception. They always had problems and issues with ratings, it never works properly. What else can I do to fix this?
Nobody has any clue what could be the issue? If anyone has even a slightest idea what might be the problem or if you have any troubleshoot suggestions I didn’t try yet, please reply.
It has become a lot worse in the last 2 months, going from being just a few movies to almost every one for me now. Nothing that used to work seems to any more.
Dude, I can’t thank you enough. Because of the thread you posted, I found your post about database editing, where you can manually add imdb logo. I just tried that and it works, now I finally have imdb logo. I just entered imdb rating manually and it looks legit. Thanks again, now all my movies have imdb rating. I will be sure to use this method for any future movie that refuses to grab imdb rating. Finally someone who responded and helped, everyone else ignored me.
Its not a perfect solution… it would be much better if it worked the way it should. You have to keep in mind that if you make any changes (for instance I re-encoded a file to burn in some subtitles), when you rescan your library the IMDB logo may disappear and need manually adding again.
I usually never refresh or edit movie after I add it, so this shouldn’t be a huge nuisance, but thanks for letting me know. Yes, imdb rating should show automatically, but plex is ignoring these issues for a long time now. I think they don’t care because functionally plex is still working properly. This is more of a ocd issue, but your workaround is working perfectly so thank you for sharing.
Just to check… you do use the ‘Plex Movie’ agent for gathering the metadata… I couldn’t get the IMDB logo to show at all with ‘the movie database’ agent unless I had the ‘Plex movie’ agent at the top of the list (as obviously it uses the ratings from the movie database).
Currently Plex seems to be mostly doing a good job of getting the ratings (I had a week or two where it was getting none), with just the expected ‘Video’ and ‘TV Movies’ needing the manual add.
I added 4 movies and imdb rating correctly showed for all of them, but The Patriot was still in limbo, with its star and %. No matter what I did, plex dance 1000 times, deleting all possible cache, it didn’t show imdb rating no matter what. After I did your workaround, I fixed this. New movies that I add all show imdb rating automatically, so far. And yes, I do have Plex Movie agent on top of the list.
